This presentation describes the work of the UNESCO/Commonwealth of Learning Chair in Open Education Resource (OER). The Chair is charged with supporting an international network promoting the use of OER institutionally, nationally and internationally. As part of this the Chair, along with a fellow Chair at the Dutch Open University, Prof. Fred Mulder and other partners supports the development of a PhD programme for researchers into OER issues, an OER knowledge cloud, which will be a repository of research articles, etc. on OER issues, and a mapping exercise of who is using OER internationally. This presentation will be presented by Rory McGreal who is a professor of Computer Technologies in Education at Athabasca University – Canada’s Open University based in Alberta, Canada.
