Mini workshop: Newsfeeds Are my Surfboard
Surviving the Information Tsunami
Newsfeeds of the latest stories are becoming a normal feature of blogs, news sites and websites for research journals. Learning how to use these feeds effectively allows us to to survive the information tsunami and stay up to date in our fields. Come to this workshop with a list of your favourite database searches, journals, websites and blogs. You'll learn how to find or create newsfeeds and how to gather these in a newsfeed reader.
This short workshop will also introduce you to TDNET unified journal searches which have recently become available to UCT. One of the powerful features of TDNET is feeds of tables of contents which link straight through to fulltext articles. The workshop will be led by Ingrid Thomson, Humanities Librarian and Alex D'Angelo, Manager Humanities Information Service, from UCT Libraries.
Please note that this short workshop overlaps very closely with Meeting 2 of the Blogging workshop to be held in October.
